EP Electric has recently filed a rate case application to increase electric rates for residential customers. A rate case is the regulatory process that all public utilities must follow to formally change their rates
EP Electric is requesting an increase of 13.36% on residential rates. Their website states; "An increase of 13.36%, or $11.76, for an average Texas residential customer utilizing 686 kilowatt hours (kWh) monthly".
How much will my EP Electric bill increase?
Chances are your home uses way more than 686 KWH, especially in the hot summer months. For reference, 686 KWH is around $85/month. We have worked with homeowners in El Paso whose homes easily exceed 1,000 or 2,000 KWH per month. If you’re one of them, you can expect your electric bill to increase much much more.
Same Electricity, HIGHER PRICE
EP Electric states on their website the reason for this rate increase is to help recuperate the nearly $1 billion dollars it has invested into its infrastructure. However here’s the bottom line for you: You will be charged a higher price for the same amount of electricity.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average price per KWH has nearly doubled in the whole state of Texas since 2001. Source
Installing solar on your roof will allow you to contribute to your own power consumption, so YOU don't have to rely 100% on your power company and their increasing rates. On top of that, solar is almost always cheaper than your rates from day 1, and will remain that way until you pay off your equipment and eliminate your monthly payment. El Paso stands as a beacon of sunlight and potential. With over 300 sunny days a year, it's no wonder that homeowners are turning their attention to the vast energy potential right above them. As electricity rates continue to fluctuate and the cost of living rises, there's never been a better time to consider a sustainable and cost-effective alternative: solar energy.
4.12% increase might not seem like a lot, until you factor in real numbers and see the difference over-time. Solar panels help you get that same power you need by yourself, so you stop paying power companies THEIR rate
With solar panels, you're essentially locking in your energy rate. While traditional electricity rates can be unpredictable, solar energy offers stability and predictability for the future.
Homes equipped with solar panel systems have been shown to have a higher property value and sell more quickly than non-solar homes. It's an investment that pays off in multiple ways.
By transitioning to solar energy, you're playing a pivotal role in reducing carbon emissions. It's a step towards a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
No longer will you be solely dependent on the grid. With solar panels, you're generating your own power, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
The shift towards renewable energy is not just a global trend; it's a revolution. And at the forefront of this revolution is solar energy. For El Paso homeowners, this isn't just about harnessing the sun's power; it's about being part of a larger movement towards sustainability and self-sufficiency.
The solar industry has seen rapid advancements in technology. Modern solar panels are more efficient, durable, and affordable than ever before. This means quicker returns on investment and longer-lasting systems with warranties.
Governments and institutions recognize the importance of solar energy. As a result, there are numerous incentives, tax credits, and rebates available for homeowners who make the switch.
As the effects of climate change become more pronounced, the need for sustainable energy solutions becomes paramount. Solar energy is clean, green, and a significant step towards reducing our carbon footprint.
